EPSON projectors give Investec the competitive edge

Following a move to its newly constructed, ultra-modern headquarters at Cape Town's foreshore earlier this year, Investec Asset Management invested in state-of-the-art audio-visual meeting and board rooms and chose EPSON to supply the projectors. The installation of EPSON projectors has enabled the company to meet the dynamic challenges of the asset management industry or Investec Asset Management.

"As early as 1996 we were introduced to EPSON's range of projectors through its distributor Solution Technologies," says Stephen Bottger, IT manager at Investec Asset Management. "When we moved into our new, bigger building at the beginning of the year it made sense to standardise our audio-visual equipment. Given the technologically advanced features of the equipment we use in meeting rooms and boardrooms, such as infrared keyboards, digital whiteboards and touch screen control units, we needed projectors that were fast on warm-up, had high resolution and the required brightness, were sturdy, operated quietly and could be mounted upside down."

The high-pressured environment of the asset management industry means that the most important need for Investec was for operational activity to take place quickly and effectively. In addition to the maintenance support from Solution Technologies, an EPSON feature that was key for Investec is that the lens is mounted directly onto the prism. This reduces the amount of dust settling on the lens, which keeps brightness at an optimum and lowers the cost of ownership.

"Through partnerships with our distributors, EPSON is dedicated to delivering strategic and wide ranging imaging solutions for corporate customers such as Investec," says Hans Dummer, general manager of EPSON South Africa. "Solution Technologies has embraced this solution-based approach and has reaped benefits for the company and Investec."

Bottger adds: "At the recommendation of Solution Technologies we acquired EPSON EMP 8000s for our auditoriums and main boardrooms, and EPSON EMP 7250s for our meeting rooms. Given that today's business executive also works in an increasingly competitive and digitally based environment, we also acquired a few portable EPSON projectors which can be moved around for presentations in support of business development."

Combining Polarisation Conversion Technology and short-arc Ultra High Efficiency lamps, EPSON's mobile projectors produce clear vibrant 16.7 million colours even in daylight conditions. This makes viewing and note-taking during presentations a simple task.

"New generation presentation equipment has also done away with the need for a computer to accompany all presentations," says Hans Dummer, general manager of EPSON South Africa. "We have developed a system, which uses a PCMCIA memory card that is able to read presentations saved on these cards in a range of formats including CompactFlash, Smart Media, MicroDrive and Memory Stick. An additional feature in EPSON's E@syMP system is its ability to establish a wireless link-up between your projector and a PC network, and to download presentations from your PC, either in advance, or while presenting."
