Portable DLP Projectors – Small And Light
Silicon Image, Inc., a leading provider of high-bandwidth semiconductor solutions, today announced that its SiI 151A PanelLink receiver has been designed into Proxima's new UltraLight DX3 portable projector. Proxima's lightest and brightest XGA projector, the UltraLight DX3 is the first in a new line of digital projectors to incorporate the industry's Digital Visual Interface specification-enabling a pure digital connection to PCs and laptop computers.
"Our new UltraLight DX3 is the smallest and lightest high-performance projector available," stated Anders Lokke, product marketing manager for Proxima in Europe. "The ability to receive digital output is a key factor in projector visual quality. We selected Silicon Image's PanelLink as our DVI solution because it offers the best price/performance value on the market today, and we believe it will become the standard in future digital interfacing."
Commenting on the design win, Jon Kiachian, Silicon Image group marketing manager, display business unit, noted, "Increasingly, end users are demanding the precise visual quality and ease-of-use that only a digital interface can provide. This win reflects the growing momentum of digital connections and the success of our PanelLink products in meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of our customers and end users. We see more and more projectors that were once exclusively analog now incorporating digital interfaces to achieve the visual clarity and other benefits of digital designs. In fact, PanelLink receivers have been incorporated in projectors from half-a-dozen manufacturers, such as Compaq, NEC and Sony."
The UltraLight DX3, Proxima's premium DLP-based projector, is the world's brightest and lightest in its weight class. With 1100 lumens, this sub-five-pound solution can outperform all others under a wide variety of room lighting conditions. The UltraLight DX3 offers state-of-the-art connectivity including video, VGA, DVI input and USB¾allowing users to hot plug their mouse. The Proxima UltraLight D family of projectors is comprised of the industry's first and only line of 5 lb. projectors that features both a zoom lens and digital keystone correction with an on-screen display for the best possible image in any environment. Proxima's new DLP-based projectors deliver whisper-quiet operation, portability and high resolution packed into easy-to-use products.
