New Ultraportable Projectors – Sanyo Delivers The Goods

SANYO Fisher Company's Presentation Technologies Division, whose parent company is one of the world's largest manufacturers of LCD projectors, has added the PLC-XU55, PLC-XU50 and PLC-SU50 to its extensive line of ultraportable LCD projectors.

With a new 1:1.5 flex zoom lens, each unit is well suited for the education market and features a throw ratio of 1.25 – 1.9:1 and requires only 8.3 to 12.8 feet to produce a 100-inch diagonal image.  Also, a DVI-I input and switchable D-Sub 15 input/monitor output for connection to an external monitor, USB connectivity, and a variable audio output facilitate PC hook-up and mouse control for teachers’ notes or presentations.

The PLC-XU55, PLC-XU50 and PLC-SU50 feature SANYO’s proprietary light engine with a 200-watt UHP lamp and generate 2500, 2000, and 2000 ANSI lumens, respectively.  All three models offer a contrast ratio of 350:1 and the PLC-XU55 and PLC-XU50 tout an XGA resolution of 1024 x 768, while the PLC-SU50 provides an SVGA resolution of 800 x 600.  A fan control system, which monitors room temperature and adjusts fan speed, guarantees presentations will be heard by reducing background noise.

All three projectors can be equipped with an optional Multi Card Imager Box which accepts optional interchangeable wired and wireless LAN cards for network image transfer and projector control and administration.  With the optional Compact Flash Card kit, PowerPoint files can be converted to JPEG format, stored on a Compact Flash card, and shown directly from the projector.

Furthermore, the PLC-XU55, PLC-XU50 and PLC-SU50 offer interlaced/progressive conversion which allows input sources to be converted into progressive signals for improved playback.  Also, SANYO’s X-Y digital keystone correction compensates for angled projector placement both vertically and horizontally.
